As a designated “Project of National and Regional Significance”, the Elgin-O’Hare Western Access (EOWA) is improving mobility, freight connectivity and economic development for Illinois, the Midwest and beyond. As the largest project ever delivered by the Illinois Tollway, the new facility connects DuPage County to the west side of O’Hare International Airport, as well as to two major interstate corridors, I-294 and I-90. The EOWA is also the first all-electronically tolled (AET) facility in Illinois. For more than seven years, EXP has been delivering planning and design for improvements across this important corridor program — spanning new and rehabilitated transportation facilities, extensive drainage and stormwater improvements, AET plazas and more. A wide variety of projects have been completed within the EOWA corridor with a focus on enhancing local roads to provide long sought-after connections and direct access to the corridor, improving current conditions and bringing the corridor up to current standards.
