As one of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s first tied-arch bridge in decades, the new Illinois 104 river bridge will be the community’s striking monument for the next 100 years. As a vital link in the Village of Meredosia and the region, this new long-span bridge replaces a deficient crossing constructed in 1936. Spanning over 2,000 feet in length, the new river bridge features a signature 590-foot long tied-arch span. Innovative design features make the bridge more economical, constructible and easier to maintain. New approach roads carry traffic through downtown Meredosia maintaining access to businesses and reinforcing the crossing’s role in the region’s economy.
